Welcome to Ripe. We are a small but perfectly shaped coffee roasting company based in Petone.

We began roasting coffee in 2001 to supply our first cafe Go-Bang Espresso and to fulfil a passionate drive to be coffee roasters.  The roasting was carried out in a small out building at the rear of Go-Bang for the first few years until we had grown enough to move production to larger premises.

Ripe grew in several directions over the following 10 years of business. We established a number of satellite espresso bars in different regions of Wellington and the Hutt Valley to represent our coffee.

There are currently 5 independent Ripe coffee bars operating. Origin, Motown and Small Batch are located in the Hutt Valley and you’ll find Haurora and Boulcott in the Wellington CBD.

The main coffee production takes place within the unilever factory complex in Petone. Around the corner on Waione Street is Small Batch, where we roast our single origin coffee. Small Batch is our training and event venue as well as our one stop shop for retail.

We have placed a high emphasis on quality in everything we do. This extends to the quality of green bean selection, the roasting of the coffee in small batches through to quality in the cup. We are lucky to have a team of passionate people working in our company who follow this philosophy. Through this journey we have focused on sustainability and continue to gain coffee knowledge through education and innovation.

Ripe Coffee Company is owned by Jason and Cate Hall, proud Petone locals who continue to be active in all aspects of the business.
